1st-Jul-2009 03:02 pm - Happy Birthday Hez!
GBflangst
A wonderful birthday to Hez, one of the first writing friends I made, way back when. I know you've been scarce lately, sweetie, because things have been busy or tough, so my birthday wish to you is a calm, fun, love-filled summer. I know you are going to have the second two, so most of my wishes go to the first. Calm, sweetie, calm. *meditates for Hez*

I'm sorry we're not sailing the Caribbean this year with Will Turner.

[info]rosathome looked down at her hand where Chris_Dane_Owens had just kissed it, and traces of his saliva sparkled in the candlelight of the wine cellar. She pulled her hand into her lap and surreptitiously wiped it with her napkin.

A/N - Everyone is free to join in and take the "adventure" anywhere you'd like it to go. As I asked in the planning posts, please integrate yourselves into the fantasy world of Chris_Dane_Owens as a specific character type. I will be posting mine shortly. Please refer to this video for ideas:

Part I

Moonette stared at her email, unsure if she should click on the latest in her In Box. The title was "In The Arms of a Strong and Brave Warrior". Interesting. Maybe a novella from that ebook subscription she had recently signed up for? But the sender's address was CDO@everywoman'sfantasy.com and that didn't ring a bell. It was probably spam. Might even have a virus and ruin her laptop. But her curiosity soon got the better of her, and she opened it. There was only one thing in the email - this YouTube video link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDyDz8WeiM4

Moonette clicked on play. Her stomach churned, and beads of sweat broke out on her brow, but strangely she had to watch the entire thing even if she was doing it through eyes squinted from grimacing and with her fingers plugging her ears. Good God, why had she ever opened that email? Even if a virus hadn't entered her computer, the images that had entered her brain were far more damaging.

And that's when she noticed a new email had just arrived. From the same address. As if she were hypnotized, Moonette opened that one, too, and found another YouTube video link. This is what she saw:

Hi everyone!

We got back from the ranch at close to 1:00 a.m. early last Saturday morning. I had to work the next day, and then it was a blur of getting ready for back to school, so I haven't been around here as much as I'd like. I also had to format a couple of stories for a historical fiction competition I'm entering, so that's been taking up what little free time I have. But they're officially submitted now, so yay. The girls are in school half days this week, then in regular schedule starting this coming Tuesday, so I'll be back to normal then. I've been reading my Flist but commenting only sporadically, due to being super busy.

I had planned on posting a little ranch report, including the plane ride from hell (as an aside, I wonder how much money the person who invented airplane barf bags has made), but my husband has been having trouble emailing me the photos I wanted to show you, so I've been putting off that post. I hope to do that tonight.

In other news, I've fallen in lust with a manly man who just may rival Will Wood for my affections at our next virtual party. I've been trying in vain to make an avatar, but I can't seem to be able to copy the pic that I want, and better/other pics of him are extremely scarce. I have always loved volleyball, both playing and watching, and I've always had a thing for volleyball players. I've been somewhat of a fangirl going to Team USA matches regularly back in my late teens and twenties, following the pro beach circuit very closely, and dating a VB player at my university. So I suppose it seems fitting that my latest mini-crush is on Clay Stanley.

He has a devastating jump serve, and it makes me all tingly before he serves when he holds the ball up like this right before he crushes it.

Here's another pic a little closer up.

He's on the far left, and I haven't been able to find a pic that does his attractiveness justice, though he's going to be a nice inspiration for my mental image of one of my Spartan soldiers in the story I'm writing.

He's 6'9'' and 230 lbs of solid volleyball power. *tries to calm breathing* Actually, the team's setter, Lloy Ball on the far right, isn't half bad for Spartan inspiration either, but I'm digging Mr. Stanley right now. If anyone can tell me why I can't seem to copy the pic from the link I've posted, or tell me if I'm breaking a law if I use that pic to make an avatar of him, I'd be very appreciative. Avatar by-lines (is that what they're called?) are already running through my head like "Manly Stanley", LOL. (All right, so that's a bad one - I'll come up with something better.)

In other news, I am definitely going to get back to our Charlie contest results and send the winners the gift certificates that I promised oh so long ago. How do you all put up with me? I need Ros' help, though, as she was the one who picked the winners. Will get to that over the weekend (I hope and pray).

And I still need to go back and give more detailed comments to Megan and CHK for their wonderful stories for my birthday. I think I'm caught up on all of the other gifts from that wonderful birthday, but I only wrote preliminary comments for those last two stories, and they both were a blast. So I sincerely apologize for being so terribly late on that.

I hope everyone is doing well, and especially that Mary is hanging in with her move and things are starting to shape up for Ros' new school.

Love to all.
18th-Apr-2008 10:52 pm - I finally saw Nim's Island!
GBflangst
Wow, it's been over two months since I posted last! I've been busy with family and writing, so some things had to give, but I'm reading my FLIST's posts regularly. Leave it to a special occasion such as my actually seeing a Gerry Butler movie while it was still in the theater, to prompt me to post! I feel the occasion deserves a formal review of the movie.

10th-Feb-2008 11:16 pm - Happy Birthday Kelleypen
Remember Sparta
Wow - I'll still get this in before midnight! I survived 18 ten year olds at our house for the afternoon, so I can post your birthday greeting.

I want to wish you the happiest of birthdays, [info]kelleypen. I have nothing but admiration for you as you've dealt with some pretty tough stuff over the past year. Invariably, you tough it out with grace, courage and good humor. No wonder your son is out there bravely serving our country - he had you for a role model. You're an inspiration. I hope the coming year brings you good health, happiness and much success in your teaching. Go Kelley! I will keep your son in my prayers.

Happy Birthday!!
7th-Feb-2008 02:35 pm - Happy Birthday Bel

*takes a second to breathe*

Well, I had a fun idea of what I wanted to do for Bel's birthday, but this last week has seriously been one of the busiest/most stressful I can remember. Really. I've even got an eyelid twitch to prove it. I haven't even properly thanked everyone for all of the fun (and wonderful writing) for amamama's birthday. So unfortunately I'm not finished with your present yet, Bel. I hope I can have it done in the next day or two, and I'll post it then. It's something that others can join in on, so if anyone wants to know what it is and is interested in playing along, email me -

moonette@gmail.com

Bel - I'm SOOOO sorry I wasn't able to get this together in time. I hope you don't mind a belated gift. I think the world of you and I hope you have a wonderful birthday. At least we'll still have some fun in a day or two! That's the bright side of belated gifts!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Annette
